Decades of Offshore Decommissioning Expertise - Meet Ross Wright, Our Offshore Construction Manager

Most careers are built in offices, but Ross Wright's was built at sea.
Ross began his career on the water at just 16 years old as aMarine Engineer Artificer in the Royal Navy, working his way up from apprentice through to Petty Officer - learning engineering from the ground up, with his hands on the tools. That foundation of practical, technical discipline has shaped everything that came after.
Over a 25-year career offshore, Ross has progressed through every level of offshore construction and project delivery - from engineer onthe tools to Construction Manager on some of the most complex and high-profile scopes the North Sea has ever seen. He has also delivered full rig reactivations, bringing assets back to operational readiness from cold stack -a discipline that demands the same rigour and technical depth as decommissioning, applied in reverse.
When it comes to decommissioning, few professionals carry the credentials Ross brings to a project. He spent over a decade embedded with Shell on the iconic Brent field - one of the most technically demanding decommissioning programmes ever undertaken anywhere in the world. As Offshore Construction Lead, he oversaw the removal of Brent Delta, Bravo, Alpha, and Charlie in sequence, alongside the decommissioning of FPSO Curlew, Shell's floating production vessel. This programme included the heaviest single lift ever performed at sea, a landmark moment in offshore engineering history that remains unmatched.

That scale of work demands mastery across the full decommissioning lifecycle. Ross brings hands-on expertise in topside module removal and sea fastening, structural leg cutting using water jet HPU, flame cutting and diamond wire methods, and the removal of over 150 conductors across varying designs - executed using drill rig, MDU, HWU, manual pulling, crane and rigging depending on the scope. Add to that caisson removal across multiple configurations, subsea and cell work including attic oil recovery, and operational down man planning managed through to golden chopper handover - and you have a practitioner who has worked every phase of a decommissioning campaign, not just managed it from a desk.
If you're managing a North Sea asset and decommissioning or offshore construction is on the horizon - Ross has seen it, done it, and delivered it.
