The nature of the role

This role is responsible for producing, reviewing, commenting on drawings while ensuring that the work is planned and executed in accordance with Katoni’s project execution plan and policies for Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental protection.  

You’ll liaise with your colleagues in the Engineering team and sometimes clients and make sure we are meeting their needs. Your experience will mean you’ll work with minimal supervision but be rest assured the team is here to support you.  

We are not like companies who have been around Aberdeen for many years and you’ll want to be part of bringing business to Katoni. You’ll do this by meeting with people in your network and building strong and valued relationships with new people you meet during work. In that respect as well as overseeing work you’ll spend time out of the office building your own brand and Katoni’s.  

You’ll also spend time offshore as part of the job and so will need to plan for time away from home from time to time.  

 The core of the role

In the role you will want to deliver the following:

  • work in accordance with Katoni’s integrated management system and help improve this system as we move forward
  • work with our Engineering team to ensure output is of the highest quality possibly and compliance with relevant standards, codes and procedures
  • provide Design and Draughting support as instructed by the Lead Engineer
  • Working to BS8888 and Katoni drawing procedures
  • Ensure all CAD files are stored in the appropriate project folders
  • A strong working relationship with your lead engineers  

We expect that in all cases work complies with client contracts and our health, safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures as well as any client/project specific HSE and quality plans.

Qualifications and experience (all desirable but not all necessary)

  • You’ll probably have experience in oil and gas industry  or a similar engineering environment
  • Experience of offshore / onshore site survey practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of materials used within the discipline  
  • An exceptional communicator both in written and verbal situations  
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications
  • Ability to demonstrate you can work at pace with a fine eye for detail  
  • HNC or equivalent in an appropriate subject
  • HND or equivalent in an appropriate subject
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD packages
  • BOSIET certification
  • Current offshore medical certificate  
  • Scene 3D scanning experience would be advantageous
  • AutoCad Plant 3D would be advantageous
  • Material selection knowledge
